Text Box: Seasonal Affective Disorder or SAD is not the sleepiness, lethargy and desire to eat most of us experience during the winter months. These are the body’s normal biological reaction to a lack of sun and long nights. 
SAD is a depressed mood disorder that is much worse than most people feel. It is caused by the changes in season. Most people are affected during the winter Text Box: months but it can occur in the Spring or Summer. SAD usually affects people over the age of 20 and it affects women more than men. Some of the symptoms of SAD are:
Depression
Anxiety
Sleepiness or too much sleeping
Loss of interest in activities including sex
Overeating especially carbohydrates
Text Box: Excess weight gain
If you are experiencing these symptoms contact you health care physician or a medical professional who may or may not refer you to a specialist if it is determined you suffer from this disorder.
