Text Box: It is impossible to think about the month of January without considering the celebration of Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. day which is on January 15 for 2007.
There are those who would defame Dr. King’s name and would wish to rid the country of this day of celebration. In spite of what Dr. King may or may not have done the facts remain the impact and influence he continues to exude on this country and other countries cannot be denied or belittled.
It is because of the sweat, pain and tears Dr. King sacrificed that we as Text Box: a nation have made humane strides that some of those same Dr. King dissenters would like eliminate. What is interesting is those who would have Dr. King de-emphasized are the same ones who would have Affirmative Action disassembled because the playing field in the United States is supposed to be much more level for all people regardless of race, gender, or religion.
But who is it that fought the fight to accomplish this very thing? From my history books Dr. King was one of the fighting leaders.

Neighborhood News

Text Box: need to remember all of those who fought this same fight so our children, who did not have to suffer the humiliation of segregation could fail to see the need for the fight.
The playing field is not level but the fruits of Dr. King’s labor are edible by all of us including those who claim that fruit to be tainted. How would they know the flavor if they themselves had been served at least one dish or two.
Remember to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King’s vision, labor and sacrifice on January 15, 2007.
